The Equine Surgical Center at ThorSport Farm prides itself on the exemplary care provided in the surgery suite and beyond. Our board-certified surgeon is highly regarded for his care and dedication to each case, along with his expertise in the field. Our anesthesiologists ensure the highest standard of care. Continuing education is vital to success; therefore, our surgeon is an active member of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons and the American Association of Equine Practitioners. Our lead anesthesiologist is a vital member of the American Association of Equine Veterinary Technicians and Assistants.

From the lobby, a large window peers straight into the surgery suite, displaying the procedures performed with pride. A seating area is provided to watch as the surgery team works expertly and efficiently. Both elective and emergency surgery are performed with the skill and precision expected of a renowned facility with state-of-the-art facilities and the latest technologies. Examples of surgery performed in the operating room are as follows: arthroscopy, castration, exploratory laparotomy/celiotomy (colic), neurectomy, c-section, fracture repair, and more.

A standing surgery space is also available with a set of hydraulic stocks, allowing for greater positioning of the patient. This equipment allows the patient to remain standing during surgery while sedated, rather than being placed under general anesthesia. Examples of procedures performed in standing surgery are as follows: laparoscopic ovariectomy, sinus trepidation, oral surgery, ophthalmic procedures, wound revision, mass removal, and more.
